Msgr. Chad Gion is a native of Regent, ND. He entered Cardinal Muench Seminary in the spring of 1996. He completed his formation there while receiving a degree in Philosophy from North Dakota State University in 1998. In the fall of that year, Msgr. Gion began major seminary at St. Paul Seminary, in St. Paul, MN. He completed his formation there in 2002 and was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Bismarck by Bishop Paul Zipfel on July 3, 2002. His first assignment was the Parochial Vicar at Christ the King in Mandan, ND and religion teacher at St. Mary's Central High School in Bismarck, ND. In 2003, Msgr. Gion was assigned the pastor of the Churches of St. Puis V in New Salem, ND, St. Mary in Almont, ND, and St. Martin in Center, ND. In 2005, Msgr. Gion was transferred and served as the pastor of the Churches of the Holy Trinity in Hettinger, ND, Sacred Heart, in Scanton, ND, and Sacred Heart in Reeder, ND. In 2007 he was reassigned to the Spirit of Life in Mandan, ND. Shortly thereafter, the parishes of St. Martin's in Huff, ND and St. Anthony, in St. Anthony, ND were added to the assignment. Msgr. Gion served these three parishes from 2007 until 2018 when he was reassigned to the parishes of the Catholic Indian Mission.
Additionally, Msgr. Gion is the State Support Chaplain for all chaplains in the ND National Army and Air Guard.
